I took the GRE written portion today. It wasn’t actually that bad, as much as I had been dreading it. (I actually up until yesterday had decided not to go back to grad school, but I’d already paid the US$175 fee to take the damn GRE and you can only get half back if you cancel, so I just decided to take it anyway.) The Quantitative/Verbal section isn’t until June, (stupid split-assessment – you’d think a city as advanced as Hong Kong would have more regular GRE testing, and that the Verbal/Quantitative would be computer-based like it is in the rest of world!)

Anyway, so basically I can’t apply to grad schools for Fall ‘08 and will have to wait until this time next year to apply for the Fall ‘09. Lame.

When I got home from the testing, my mom mentioned how she’d actually be happy for me to go back to grad school. I thought she’d be totally against it b/c of the cost, (although I would try as much as I could to support myself), but I guess not. I think I’d want either an M.S. in Publishing or a Certificate in Publishing – not sure at this point. And grad school is expensive! Especially at private institutions in NYC, which is where, ideally, I would study, seeing as it’s the media capital of the world and all. Plus, I don’t know if a masters in publishing will really help finding a job…although at the moment my problem is that I can’t get my damn foot in the damn publishing door, so a masters could potentially help…

I’d love to be a full time student studying something I’m actually interested in though (as opposed to law, which I pretty much hated every step of the way), and to be living in a city that I love. Ah, there I go dreaming again…

Anyway, I’ve got plenty of time to decide/save up money (assuming I’ll have a job between now and Sept. ‘09!) – so we’ll see how this goes!

Anyway. I have something to add to my wishlist, I am SO IN LOVE with this bag:It’s from Tod’s, and the colour is a deeper, richer red than it is in the picture, with gold buttons and zippers and patent leather handles. The size is perfect for daily use, AND (and this is a crucial point for me) the bag is l i g h t. Light enough to actually put stuff in it and not want to feel like my arm is gonna fall off. Plus, the straps are long enough to put over my shoulder if I want to.

My Christmas wishlist grows longer by the day…!

How nice it’d be to have money/a sugar daddy! ;)

I was browsing Tiffany’s website this morning and found quite a few things I’d want to add to my collection, even though I haven’t wanted anything Tiffany since high school! (I generally find Tiffany silver and the “Return to Tiffany” collection so high school/college age, but there is still some that I find I love!)The Apple tag charm, which would represent my newly found love for the Big Apple.
The Martini tag charm, representing my love of lychee and Belvedere martinis (not together!)
I’d add both those charms to the Heart tag bracelet (above), which I got for high school graduation, and where my initials are monogrammed on the heart. The Elsa Peretti Gemstone Open Heart in rhodonite – perfect to add to any number of gold chains I have!

And finally, the gold “J” Elsa Peretti alphabet necklace, because I can never get enough gold jewelry:
Sigh. Is it any wonder that my favourite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany’s?? At least it’s Christmas (kinda) soon…!
